The Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan)
says it is ready to put four social security programs in full operation, 52
days ahead of the official July 1 launch.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan president director Elvyn G. Masassya
said on Friday that the agency was ready to fully implement the four social
security programs in terms of administration, human resources, infrastructure
and policy.
“All preparations for the full operation in July have been
made and we are waiting for the President to officially launch it,” he said.
Under the 2004 National Social Security Program Law and the
2011 Social Security Provider Law, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is entrusted with
running the occupational accident program, old-age risk program, pension
program and death insurance program for all, including workers.
Elvyn explained that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan had improved the
occupational accident program with a return-to-work plan and increased the
death benefit to Rp 24 million (US$1,846) from the previous Rp 21 million.
“The old-age risk program has been deemed decent and
protective while the pension scheme will become a new program that will have a
regulation issued in the immediate future,” he said. (++++)
